PAAA welcomes two new associate members
31st July 2020
As the country begins to bounce-back after lockdown, we are pleased to announce that as a result of our drive to recruit new members - and in particular our associate membership line-up that represents the UK’s leading automotive performance aftermarket retailers and customer-facing service providers - the assocation welcome to two new associate members: Amber Performance and Darkside Developments.
Amber Performance

Founded in 1995, Amber Performance initially supplied tuning packages for Ford Cosworth and RS models. It wasn’t long before it established an excellent reputation in the industry and went on to expand in the Ford tuning aftermarket.
In more recent years, Amber Performance has turned its attentions to Japanese manufacturers and as well as keeping its well-established links with Ford, is now one of the market leaders in this sector too. Further expansion saw its offer increase to become a supplier and retailer for some of the world’s most iconic brands, many of them PAAA members.
Over the years, the company has supported and supplied parts to front-running competitors and teams taking part in the Time Attack and European Drift Championships. Its work has often been showcased in many of the performance tuning publications, with customer cars regularly appearing on front covers and in magazine features.
Amber-Performance is proud to say that its employees are motoring enthusiasts, many running modified cars and attending meets and shows. Over the years staff have become involved with project cars and therefore are able to impart first-hand knowledge of their experiences.

Darkside Developments
Based in Barnsley, Darkside Developments started life in 2010 when twins Scott and Ryan set up business from a shed in their father’s back garden. The name of the business came from customers saying they had 'gone over to the darkside', when they switched from a petrol to a diesel engined car. Building on connections and a reputation that came from supplying enthusiasts worldwide with upgraded parts that made their TDi engines faster and more economical, the company has since become one of the UK’s leading diesel tuning specialists, with a focus on VAG models.
In 2011, Scott and Ryan’s older brother Stefan joined to head-up the used parts department and, with the business growing rapidly, in 2015 a new, purpose-built premises was constructed. Facilities include a fully equipped workshop, engineering, development and fabrication departments, a rolling road dyno and parts warehouse.
During this time, Darkside has become increasingly more involved with motorsport and at Santa Pod in June 2019, its highly developed 2-litre Seat Arosa set a new world record as the fastest diesel car to cover a quarter-mile, stopping the clock at 9.46 seconds and 150mph.
“We understand the PAAA will give us a voice within the UK performance and tuning industry, so we're happy to be joining their family in order to cement and protect our rights. We're a very busy company, based in a small ex-mining village in Barnsley and to have PAAA on our side is a great addition when it comes to industry support and connections.
“The 'right to race' and 'right to modify' is the epitome of our company ethos and with the PAAA we can feel safe when dealing with clients who in-turn can rest assured we’re legitimate and trustworthy. We look forward to developing our relationship with the association and its members.”
